God of the Sparrow
God of the sparrow, God of the whale, God of the swirling stars,
How does the creature say Awe, How does the creature say Praise?
The question comes from from the popular hymn, God of the Sparrow, by Jaroslav Vajda. On Sunday, June 19, the children of WPPC will demonstrate that “when we live together the way God intends, not only we, but all Heaven and Nature sing.”
From the moment God says “Let there be light!”, our worship will enact the creation and commissioning of God’s people to bear witness to God’s gracious love. Candles will illuminate the chancel, the animals of Eden will process up the aisle with the choir; a liturgical kite will even sail with the Spirit.
Our children will participate in every aspect of worship. All children are invited to dress as an animal for worship and for participation in the message for all ages.
So, a question for all readers of this blog: If you were to come to worship on Sunday as the animal of your choice, which animal would you be? And how would you praise God? Leave your answers below, and they may be shared during the service on Sunday morning.
God of the ages, God of the hand, God of the loving heart,
How do your children say Joy? How do you children say Home?
