Sabbath Day

August 25, 2011

Poetry for the Sabbath: poems by Wendell Berry and selctions from Ovid. “The Inner Part” by Louis Simpson, and “Library” by Louis Jenkins.

And a recommendation. Lynn Strongin has editd a collection of poetry called The Sorrow Psalms: A Book of Tewntieth-Century Elegy. None of them are easy poems, but this is a marvelous collections for those in tune with loss, grief, forgiveness and hope.

And a beautiful moment: August got to help a baby alligator be born today; it hatched right into his hands. This is vacation and sabbath in Southwest Florida.
