Sabbath Day at Montreat

November 10, 2011

So I am on retreat, and have been all week. I am in Montreat, North Carolina at the Presbyterian Center here. I and eleven other members of the Hudson River Presbytery are attending the Presbyterian Multicultural Network’s Multicultural Institute for Church Leadership. It has been (or will be) four full days of worship, workshop, education and conversation about the church we are and the church we are becoming. It has included some anti-racism training, personal discernment, congregational anaysis, and hopeful visioning. This is certainly sabbath,

Leslie Mardenborough from White Plains is part of our delegation, as is Sarah Henkel, the new Cross-Cultural Network Coordinator for the presbytery. Sarah will preach in White Plains on Sunday and will be introduced as a parish associate for outreach.

Retreat has included at least eight hours of sleep each night, and three meals a day. Not quite as much walking as at home, however.
