Much needed rest today.
The day began with August and I delivering vegetables to the Emergency Ecumenical Food Pantry at the Slater Center. The vegetables came from the George Washington Student Garden: squash, zucchini, cucumber, beans and tomatoes. The garden was planted by a second grade classroom, and August and I have been tending it this summer.
Their fruits are feeding others. (The next photo is of August and several volunteers at the pantry)
Then August was off to drama camp and I was off to a coffe shop. (He is preparing for a production of Beauty and the Beast tomorrow evening.) Found an outdoor eatery in Scarsdale where I could have a cup of coffee (with eggs and hash) and digest a good history book (on a fifth century sermon collection from Gaul).
After lunch, the day was mostly reading, gardening, laundry, and cleaning the basement. Picked up some wood for August’s building project, fed worm castings to our house plants, sorted some books, and backed up the computer. Noelle got a night out, while August and I had sushi.
Good day for clearing brain clutter.
