With the restful but busy day yesterday I almost forgot to make my sabbath post.
The day involved music, reading, meditation, laundry, Facebook, and conversation with friends. It was our monthly Oktoberfest at Dunn’s Pub in White Plains, where August and I watched the weather prediction of Blizzard Nemo. And it was a day of surprising joy and grief.
Central was my foray into Rebekah Presson Mosby’s Poetry on Record: 98 Poets Read Their Work 1888 – 1996. Collected on four CDs, the work contains well over a hundred recordings: Whitman, Pound, H.D., Gertrude Stein and Dorothy Parker were among my friends yesterday.
From which I have this take-away:
“Let me recite what history teaches. History teaches.”
– Gertrude Stein
